Many events are planned to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Mt Everest climb. This site is an attempt to collect the information about all these events. As we recognise Tenzing and Hillary, we should not ignore the contribution of the entire 1953 expedition team: leader Sir John Hunt, Charles Evans and Tom Bourdillon, who were the first to reach the South Summit, and Dawa Tenzing and the other Sherpas who contributed to the expedition's success. It is to be located the Beacon Climbing Centre ( an old Marconi transmitting site ) near Llanberis North Wales. We will be on air 29th & 30th May and making contact with radio stations world wide.
